Officers and PCSOs from Thames Valley Police working in partnership with West Oxfordshire District Council and Cottsway Housing have carried out a Drugs House Closure Order at a property in Eastfield Road, Witney. The closure took place on Wednesday (26/6) at 13:00. This is the first order of this nature that has been served in West Oxfordshire. The premise has been targeted as it has been associated with reports of drug related crime and anti-social behaviour.
A drugs house closure order can be upheld when:
(a) the premises in respect of which the closure notice was issued have been used in connection with the unlawful use, production or supply of a Class A controlled drug;
(b) the use of the premises is associated with the occurrence of disorder or serious nuisance to members of the public;
(c) the making of the order is necessary to prevent the occurrence of such disorder or serious nuisance for the period specified in the order.
